The Experiment, as it is affectionately known, is a nonprofit that uses just about every available channel to make the world a better place. It may not look like there’s much going on at times, but that’s never actually the case. While e-commerce is not currently part of this organization, it was once, and we handled the setup and configuration and design of that (now-dormant) portion of the site. The screenshot below shows the 4th design iteration. As with nearly all nonprofits and humanitarian organizations, the biggest challenges are always IA (information architecture) and UX (user experience). A nonprofit’s website must not only be easy to manage and update (UX), but also show clearly the impact the organization is making and has made over time (IA). The American Clothing Experiment definitely gave us an opportunity to delve deeply into those two areas.
